How much electricity one wash uses
A washing machine label gives the use per 100 cycles of the eco 40-60 programme. The most efficient 8-10 kg machines listed by Topten use 0.2-0.31 kWh per wash in it. The eco programme washes for a long time at a lower temperature.
In regular 40°C and 60°C programmes most of the electricity heats the water, so the calculator assumes e.g. 0.7 kWh per wash. Enter the value for the programme you use most.
Washing at night on the G12 tariff
A washing machine is easy to run at night. In the G12 night zone in the PGE network 1 kWh costs 0.6111 PLN, so the same wash costs about 0.43 PLN and a year of washing about 89 PLN instead of about 152 PLN.
The G12 tariff changes the price for the whole meter, and daytime electricity on it costs more than on G11. The whole house decides whether to switch, not the washing machine alone.
