How we make money and how we label partner offers

The calculators and guides are free. The site may earn money from ads and partner offers, but we label every one of them, and partners have no influence on the formulas, prices or results.

Where revenue may come from

The site may show ads and partner offers, for example a quote form from a solar or heat pump installer, a comparison of home insurance offers or a product in an online shop. If you use such an offer, the partner may pay us a commission. It does not cost you more.

How we label ads and offers

  • An ad carries the label "Advertisement" and has a fixed place between page sections.
  • A partner offer carries the label "Partner offer" with the partner name and a link to this page.
  • Links to partners have the rel="sponsored" attribute, which tells search engines the link is commercial.
  • Ads and offers sit below the calculator result or below a guide or glossary entry, never inside the form or the result itself.
  • A fully sponsored text, if we ever publish one, will start with the label "Sponsored article".

What partners cannot influence

Partners do not change the calculator formulas, the default prices, the order of rankings or the content of the guides. Energy and fuel prices come from public sources and are shown with a date. If a partner offer conflicts with a calculator result, the result stays as it is.

Your data

The calculators run in your browser. The numbers you type into a form are not sent to our server. When you go to a partner, the link may contain our identifier so the partner knows where you came from. Anything you enter on the partner site is covered by its own privacy rules.
